An honest comparison between Chauffyr chauffeur service and app-based rideshare services. Both are legitimate ground-transport products — they solve different problems. So is a late-night return from a bar where you want the first car that pulls up and does not require pre-booking against a flight-tracked arrival window. Rideshare's dispatch-against-demand model is designed for exactly that transactional ground pattern.
A flight-tracked arrival where the car has to be ready when you land, even after a long delay in the departure city is a chauffeur job. A six-city IPO roadshow where the EA books once and reconciles through consolidated invoicing is a chauffeur job. A board-offsite Sprinter for 10 directors moving between a resort and a dinner venue is a chauffeur job. A private-aviation pickup at an FBO where the chauffeur has to clear ramp access and know the operator's loading-bay protocol is a chauffeur job. Rideshare is not designed for any of these.
Chauffyr fares are higher than rideshare base fares — same vehicle class, same route, higher number. The difference is bought behaviour: the vehicle is vetted and black-on-black, the chauffeur is a trained professional on an account with onboarding and a background check, 60-minute airport wait is complimentary, tolls and airport fees are inclusive, the quote does not change on a Friday evening or a Saturday night, and the invoice shows one line not three. Rideshare is cheaper because it does not bundle any of that. The right comparison is total-cost-of-ground, not quoted-fare-of-ride.
Chauffyr chauffeurs are onboarded with background checks, driving-record reviews and vehicle inspections against California PUC TCP authority and the equivalent licensing standard in each market we operate. Both operators publish safety policies publicly; the operating-model difference an EA or a travel manager cares about is: Chauffyr chauffeurs are named and pre-assigned at booking stage, rideshare drivers are allocated by the marketplace at pickup time.

For a flight-tracked arrival, a multi-city roadshow or a sensitive trip, Chauffyr is the correct product. The right tool depends on the job.
Chauffyr includes 60 minutes of complimentary wait at commercial airports after actual landing, and 15 minutes at FBO/private-aviation and non-airport pickups. Chauffeurs hold at no additional charge while a tracked tail is inbound. Rideshare operators publish their own policies; most are substantially shorter and some charge per-minute waiting from arrival at the pickup.
Chauffyr quotes an upfront USD price before booking that includes tolls, parking, airport fees, fuel and the complimentary wait window; a 20% gratuity is added when you book. Rideshare base fares typically exclude surge, long-wait, cancellation, airport pickup and toll charges — the quoted fare is a base, not a total.
For an airport arrival we recommend 24–72 hours in advance so the tail-number tracking and FBO coordination lock in; for an hourly as-directed day with multiple stops, 48–72 hours; for Sprinter groups or private-aviation FBO pickups, 2–7 days. Last-minute bookings are accepted when the bench has availability.
